To kick off the series, we have Belfast’s rising sonic powerhouse, Makeshift Art Bar. The band released their awesome debut EP, ‘Lackluster Writing Makes Fundamental Reading’, in January this year, as a digital-only release. Heavily championed by Mary Anne Hobbs & the 6 Music crew, the EP made a hell of an impact & immediately caught our ears. Obviously, as a physical record shop, it saddened us not
to be able to own (or provide you with) these sounds on wax, so we contacted the band about trying to rectify the lack of vinyl pressing and a few months later, here we are, with their outstanding four-track almost ready to be spun on turntables. Our very first, very own Dinked Edition pressing!
Each track on ‘Lackluster Writing Makes Fundamental Reading’ takes us on a journey through jagged guitar riffs, pulsating rhythms, and lyrics that oscillate between the poetic and the provocative. The record captures the raw intensity and unapologetic experimentalism that have made Makeshift Art Bar a must-see act on the live circuit. If you’re a local, you’ll hopefully be able to catch them at one of their many Great Escape shows in a week’s time. We
can’t flippin’ wait!!
