Also out this week:
After returning to blow our minds (and score a top 20 spot in our albums of the year), The Cure have handed their 2024 record's reins over to a veritable who's who of sonic architects, resulting in some absolutely belting remixes from the likes of Orbital, Daniel Avery, Four Tet, Craven Faults, The Twilight Sad, 65daysofstatic, and so many more! With more horn than an ivory merchant, the Budos Band bulk up their mesmeric grooves with slabs of sheer guitar power, sending this one soaring for the mountain tops like the smooooooth amalgam of a Latin-infused psychedelic Western. The Bug Club expertly lace their ragged, wonky pop with a sense of humour so infectiously wry that they'll have you chanting "muck" like it's the most normal, human thing to do and two halves of ecstatic beats and contemplative drones comprise this subtle sequel to Cosey Fanni Tutti's self-titled album, where she heroically wrestles with spectres, both electronic and otherwise, finding her way through pulsing darkness into sparkling pockets of light.
As well as all of that, Oasis have wound back their clocks, there's a worry bomb with Carter USM's name on it, Brian D'Addario is an early worm, it's all sci-fi for Half Man Half Biscuit, Metallica are getting loaded, Jon Savage has taken a trip to space (signed copies are available), Haddaway have gone all philosophical, Neil Young is talking to the trees, Orbital are back on the radio, Van Morrison's playing a memory game, it's amateur hour with To Rococo Rot, Annahstasia is at the end of her tether, WITCH are back to cause harm (grab a signed edition!), and Patrick Wolf is having a good old weep - and you can join him when he plays in the shop on Saturday night!
