Blurring the lines between songs and instrumentals, the former Roxy Music man’s 22nd studio album contains great sweeping vistas sluiced from synthesisers and samplers alongside vocal treatments that sent his voice into unexpected sonic spaces.

 
Whilst his notion of ‘composers as gardeners’ emerged subsequently, it seems the seeds were initially sown here, twenty years ago. You can see this in his pick-of-the-crop selection of collaborators: Nell Catchpole, Leo Abrahams, Willie Green, Shriekback’s Barry Andrews, and a young Jon Hopkins all add their distinct chops to Another Day on Earth with lyrics provided by inventor Daniel Hillis and Under the Skin author Michel Faber.

And this celebratory Dinked Archive edition finally brings the record to vinyl in a delightful translucent purple colourway, expanded with the previously Japan-only bonus track ‘The Demon of the Mines’
